  • How to run a business (or attend your job) when you have anxiety?

First of all, let me say “Happy 2nd Birthday” to me! It’s my blog’s birthday. It’s exactly 2 years since I published my first blog post. I remember how long it took me to write that post (I think it was 2 months on and off and lots of editing) and now I can knock a blog post out within an hour if I’m not facing resistance.

I have had moments of extreme joy (when I got my first paid client), and I have had low moments (like when I was slandered on the internet and the information was completely false).

Through it all I (and my blog) have grown and evolved.

  • How to cope when you’re having a bad day

    frustrated girl

“I don’t need to set an alarm” you think to yourself. “The baby always wakes up at 6.”

Baby wakes up. You wipe the drool off the side of your face and your grope for your phone on your bedside table.

You look at the time. It’s 8 am!

Seriously. You’re late. The baby alarm didn’t work so well.

You’re rushing around like a mad chook who knows he’s about to be made dinner.

And you sense the impending doom.

  • When was the last time you did something for the first time?

    first time

When I posted this image up on Facebook it got me thinking about when was the last time I actually tried something for the first time.

I’m guessing if you’re like me, anxiety can come into play when it comes to trying new things. (Depending on what that new thing is. If it’s trying the new coffee shop down the road and its delicious Oreo Brownie then I’m totally down and cool with that. My friend’s frog soup she ordered when we were in Cambodia. Well. That’s another story).

You know the feeling oh so well.

The rising of warmth that comes from your belly and up to your face causing you to get flushed cheeks.

  • Stop Refreshing Your Phone

    Stop-Refreshing-Your-Phone-1050x700

Back when I was involved in a conservative church, I decided to ditch the T.V (along with wearing jeans because apparently that was oh so masculine), so I could make more time for God.

The experiment went for just over a year and ended when I was missing Anne of Green Gables too much. I needed a T.V to watch my videos. (Videos, how retro right?)

  • New and Exciting Changes On their Way Soon

CHANGES TO THE SITE ARE COMING!!!

So I noticed there were a few new subscribers (oh hey there gorgeous) so I thought for those we were new around the digs just to fill you in on what is happening.

    • You might notice that some of my branding isn’t matching parts of what you see around here. That’s cause I’m too impatient to set up a test site and I’d rather just do things gradually. Ya know. Cause I’m super excited about some new changes and I want you to know too.
    • The Butterfly House name is going. The tag line on my header is going. I called it that when I was studying Naturopathy and thought I’d eventually open a clinic. I realised science and I just don’t get on and as fascinated as I am with natural health it just doesn’t light me up the way life coaching does. I’ll buy the natural deodorants, I’ll guzzle the herbs but I just don’t want to make them. As far as my tagline, the whole soulful coaching for savvy women came about because frankly I just needed another ‘s’ adjective to go with soulful (face palm lol). I work with you whether you’re savvy or not. Reality is I’m a coach for women with anxious dispositions. I am here for those women who are ready to move forward after having experienced anxiety/depression/trauma. They want to pick themselves up and start to tentatively move back into life again. You know what. I know how to guide you to start to love who you are, bless the dark times you’ve been through, and plan again. I am all about the forward motion, and the deep acceptance of who you really are after all you’ve been through. If this sounds like you then send me an email: thebutterflyhouse@dianabraybrooke.com
    • My about me page still reflects the old theme of being a spiritual rebel. It’s still applicable. The story is still me but if you’re confused just know the page is getting cleaned up BUT I am still me in the story. Nothing has changed there.
    • New coaching packages are up on the website now. Again. It may be a little clunky or not set out graphically appealing just yet but again I’d rather you all know what it is I do now then my old stuff. Want to know more? Head HERE.
    • I am still coaching clients and am open for biz 🙂 Having said that I’m nearly full up with clients again so I suggest you get in now while you have the opportunity. I am going to have to start waitlisting.
    • I’ve just enquired to get some graphic design work done (Squeal). I’m getting my logo designed girls!  And getting a brand inspiration board done as my first lot of projects. You’ll start seeing some consistency with fonts and colours.
    • I’m creating a new opt in to match the fact that I am coaching women who have anxiety.  It’s an ‘Ease Your Anxiety’ meditation. How beautiful is that? Unhermit Yourself will go into the Freebie Vault so you can still access it. Are you on my newsletter list? Head on and enter your details into either the box above or below. Make sure you confirm you subscription and you’ll have access to all the free resources as they get uploaded.

    I think that is it.

Are you excited about the new changes? What would you like to see happen here on the site? Comment below and let me know.

  • Why Failure isn’t a bad thing

    steep street

So this week I got another disgruntled email from a parent letting me know how their child could not have possibly failed their assessment and through their words took away the responsibility for their child’s learning from themselves and placed it solely on me. (For those who didn’t know, I teach high schoolers when I’m not coaching).

Well, in my frustration I initially was going to write a rant about “To the parent whose child failed their assignment.” Then I calmed my farm down and had a look at why the parent was probably feeling that way and realised that this is probably something we as adults struggle with.

  • How I am changing direction in my biz

    EmotiveImages_141029_Diana_WEBcrop_044

    Hey beauties.

So a few of you would have seen this week on either Instagram, Facebook Closed “Spirit Seeker’s” or on my coaching page that I have FINALLY nutted down and figured out what it is that has me singing and twirling in the wind all Sounds of Music style. The hills were alive indeed when staring me right in front of me were my ideal coaching clients.

And just to confirm that I was on the right track I put it out there into the groups who they thought I worked with.

  • The 4 Parenting Lessons I’ve learnt in my first year as a mum

    flynn 1 birthday

This weekend we celebrated Flynn’s 1st birthday and man has this kid taught me a few lessons. I have been so incredibly humbled over the year. I have felt such a myriad of emotions: happy, sad, frustrated, elated, anxious but even amidst all of that I have felt thankful regardless of the circumstances.

So here are my lessons that I have learnt from my first year of motherhood.

  • The 5 Things that I am Thankful For This Week

    EmotiveImages_141029_Diana_WEB_028

I’ve had many times this week where I just wanted to give up on this biz. Yep, I said it. I’ve been blogging my little heart out over the years and writing newsletters week after week all while still teaching at my high school job. Now throw in being a mother in the mix and sometimes it can just be flat out overwhelming.

I’ve thrown myself a few tanties (that’s short for tantrums if you weren’t sure what that meant) and gotten frustrated with myself because so much of what I do feels unseen.

And yet I’ve come off the back of a really awesome Christian Women’s conference at Hillsong where I have felt uplifted and so loved.
