knight and princess

Hey there gorgeous,

So this weekend I went to Hillsong Colour Conference. If you’ve been reading my blogs of late you’d probably guess that I really needed to get out of my funk.

I’ve had a year of refining.

Not anything earth shattering bad. Just uncomfortable change. You know like that time you tried to fit into those skinny jeans. You know it’ll look good once you’ve peeled them on but getting them on is half the battle. I’ve been digesting the wrong foods and it’s been fattening me up in some ways. You know, you kinda beat yourself up about what a loser you are because you had a role taken away from you or some change occurred and this just made you feel uncomfortable. Squeezed in. Tight. Constricted. Yuk.

So I managed to get a last minute ticket to the conference and a $1000+ later I was ready to go. (Dang leaving things until the last minute and having to buy flights, accommodation and a hire car cause you couldn’t get accommodation closer).

On the opening night I still found it hard to sing during the worship time. I felt empty, hurt and a bit like ‘What the heck am I even doing here?”

I leaned in to hear the word.

I started to fill up my dry well.

The next day the beautiful Holly Wagner, pastor of Oasis Church in Los Angeles spoke.

Beautiful words that felt like they were just for me.

4 Ways That Will Help You Understand the Role of Being a Princess

PRINCESS LESSON 1 – UNDERSTAND AND KNOW THAT YOU ARE ROYAL!

A royal princess knows that she is royal. As a Christian I believe that we have a father who is more than just a father. He’s a king from a heavenly realm and as such we are princesses. Way cool.

Understand your royalty cause it never gets old honey. We often think to be royal we must have courage and that courage is something extreme.

BUT it can be every day stuff- telling the truth, asking for help, forgiveness and the courage to make a change.

She knows her true identity.

She’s more than just some pretty little thing, this princess is a warrior princess and this comes in handy for point number 2.

PRINCESS LESSON 2 – LEARN HOW TO FIGHT MORE THAN 1 BATTLE AT A TIME

Battles don’t come one at a time. Strength comes from learning how to fight more than 1 battle at a time. Beautiful girl if you are pursuing God you’re bound to be tested. (Acts 1:8).

Why? It helps other people when we are stretched. Gen 12:1-5

PRINCESS LESSON 3 – YOU WERE CREATED FOR COMMUNITY

That means that you don’t have to fight your battles alone. You have other sisters around you to help you when you feel weak and to celebrate you when you are feeling strong.

Don’t isolate yourself from others in your community. Identify people who make you feel safe and heard. Also look out for others. We’re stronger together as a sisterhood.

PRINCESS LESSON NUMBER 4 – BE FAITHFUL WHERE YOU ARE CURRENTLY

When you go through tough times don’t be weary in good serving. God will open up the next door of opportunity. It takes strength to enlarge. You take steps through each door. Proverbs 31:17  is all about how when you go through trials you spiritually grow. It takes spiritual strength. Our first response should always be love.
